Off-Duty Female Sheriff’s Deputy Stabbed in Highland Park ‘Melee’

Los Angeles police are investigating an incident in Highland Park that left one woman stabbed and another woman shot on Wednesday morning. Two people were taken into custody for questioning, police said.
The woman who was stabbed was identified as an off-duty Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputy, police said. The two un-named women were taken to local hospitals and are in stable condition.
The incident occurred about 1:20am Wednesday morning in the 5900 block of North Figueroa Street. The gunshot victim showed up at LA. Fire Station 12 in Highland Park and police were called, a fire dispatcher said. The station is located across the street from a local pub, but police would not confirm whether the incident started there.
Another woman was found with stab wounds two doors down at the CVS Pharmacy, a RMG News Videographer said.
According to a preliminary investigation, a fight between two people escalated into a “melee” and the women were injured, Los Angeles Police Officer Bruce Borihanh said.
