1) First, near the top of the website, find the LOGIN & PASSWORD blanks.

Type ANY "Loginname" and ANY "Password" in the blanks (correct OR incorrect) & click on the BLUE ARROW next to the blanks.

2) You will be presented with a screen with two areas:

"Member Login"         Login Name:      Password: 

and

 "Lost your Password?         No problem. Simply enter the e-mail address we have on file for your account.
Your Email: " (fil in the blank)

 IF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN EITHER OR BOTH  - YOUR LOGIN NAME &/OR PASSWORD, THEN ENTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE BLANK

3) The site will send you an EMAIL containing  an "activation" link to click on in the body of the email that looks like this:

"Someone has just requested a new password for your account at Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council.
You can have your password reset and a new password emailed to you by clicking on the link below:
http://www.historichighlandpark.org/lostpass.xxxxxxxxxx=robertmendel@sbcglobal.net&code=fc210"

4)  Simply click on the link, and then go back to yout email, and read the NEXT email the site sends w/ your username and a NEW password.

5) Go to the http://historichighlandpark.org website -

The website automatically presents a "log in" area near the top. Type in your Username in the "Loginname" blank, and type in the NEW password in the "Password" blank.

6) You will be presented with a screen that, at the top of the screen, after logging in, allows you to click on:
"Edit Profile" - Click on those words.

7) At the top of the next screen you can click on "change password" and in the next screen, you can enter the current NEW password once and your preferred password twice, and automatically, your user registration is updated to your preferred password permanently.

 ALTERNATIVELY,

1)  If you don't like the tedium of clicking "Lost your password" and doing the process above - you can just re-register, by clicking on "Register Now" at the top left of the page,  and start over, leaving your old username and account in the system and get a new one, w/ a NEW username and password that you can write down and remember.

The website doesn't present a conflict, or block a new registration, just because there is a duplicate email address being used (Your forgotten username/password combination is  connected  to your email address).  You can have two registrations in the system at the same time, connected to the same email address.  BUT YOU MAY RECEIVE DUPLICATE EMAILED WEBSITE NEWSLETTERS IF YOU HAVE SELECTED THE OPTION TO RECEIVE THEM IN BOTH REGISTRATIONS.  We prefer it if you have just one registration, but it really is okay to have more than one.

You can "turn off" emailed website newsletters easily by clicking on "EDIT PROFILE" near the top of the website and choosing your "email preferences" to NOT receive website newsletters.

So you see, the HHPNC website simply ISN'T difficult to register to, and if people don't like being assigned a new password (which they can change by following the SIMPLE & INTUITIVE process the site provides as described above), you can just re-register again in moments.
